Okeme James – If

By  |

If

If the Sun should smile harshly

Upon the inhabitants of the earth

And you take a step to stare

Boldly at its face.

Guess what?

You’ll find out that you’re smiling back.

If the cloud should lose its patience

With its emotion out of control

Then becomes very heavy and moody

It outpours like a punctured tube.

If you try to comfort it

Check out! You’re weeping all over

Soak in its tears.

If the moon fails to pay the night a visit

And the stars are not seen to wink at us when we lay to rest.

Then men will rather shut the door of their eyes

And land in their dream lands.

Than gaze upon an unseen space enveloped in darkness.
