Finger Pointing – JD DeHart

Finger Pointing

I read a story once about a hand

that appeared on a wall in a king’s room

and dictated an important message to him

I’d be scared of that mess

I read a story once about a message

that came on a raven’s back

to offer sage-like wisdom to a ruler

I’d be wondering where the bird

came from

I’m too suspicious for stories

too paranoid to heed advice from mystical

places, but I do lean in and listen

to the babbling brook of life when I can.

JD DeHart is a writer and teacher.  He has two poetry projects available at Origami Poetry.
